Opportunity East, the rehabilitation division of Lions Volunteer Blind Industries, has been offering services to people who are blind and visually impaired since 1972. Opportunity East’s rehabilitation services address quality of life issues while promoting life enrichment through several different
disciplines including; pre-vocational evaluation,
rehabilitation teaching/independent daily living skills,
orientation and mobility, work adjustment, adaptive
computer training and
Tennessee Business Enterprises entry-level training. Opportunity East’s mission is to
"enhance the quality of life for individuals with disabilities through comprehensive training and support so that they can become integrated and productive within their communities." Opportunity East is available to serve
Tennessee Blind Services Referrals throughout the state.
A 2002 survey conducted by Opportunity East supports the quality of its service. A personal interview of one-hundred and forty-seven previous clients revealed that one-hundred and thirty-seven or approximately ninety-three percent (93%) rated Opportunity East’s service from good to excellent.
